End Of Summer 2016

The end of the summer of 2016 was filled with a flurry of activities.  From the start of school to the end of radiation treatments, late July through early September kept us very busy.

Thankfully, August 31, 2016 marked the end of Bev's radiation treatments which meant the end of the 5 times a week drive to Temple!  Taylor and Presley went with us a couple of times before school started and while Jennifer was involved in some in-service training.  Danny was able to attend a lunch with some of the District 8 Retired Extensions agents in Waco and catch up on the lives of former co-workers.

In addition, some of Jennifer and Toby's friends built them a steer pen while they were at the Ag teacher convention at Corpus. During their trip, Presley fell in love with surfing and now she wants to become a professional surfer!

We also bought a new pickup from Hanner Chevrolet in Baird as we were preparing for our annual trip to Ouray in September. Two more grand kids started school in 2016.   Jane and Leighton began their kindergarten year of school!

It was fun to re-connect with old friends during the annual
County Extension Agent's meeting in Waco.  I'm the young looking one
on the first row in the blue shirt!!

Even the wasps were busy finishing up their summer work!

Summer means black eyed peas!

And shopping for fall!

A stop at Hobby Lobby for Mom.

Friends coming together to put up a steer pen for the Long's
while they were away at the Ag teacher's convention in Corpus!

It was a hot couple of days!

Bev ended up getting de-hydrated and had to have an IV.
Dr. Lee told her she looked "awful" in so many words.  He was very
concerned and sent her to the treatment room immediately!

A stop at Cracker Barrel.......

and a quick game of checkers!

Thank goodness, getting to ring the bell again and hopefully for
the last time after 8 chemo infusions and
30 radiation treatments.  She is one tough cookie!

One of our favorite doctors at Scott and White.

Let's celebrate at Olive Garden.  Think the salad was good?
Well, yeah!  I think this was the second round, too.

And an Auntie Anne pretzel.

Presley and Taylor's new pets!

Presley girl........

....showing off some dance moves!

Getting ready for the race, talking strategy!

I can do this.......

....and it's over with a medal.  She is going to be a runner!

Looking toward the west as.......

......the storm rolls in!

Our new ride!

Your chariot awaits, Queen Beverly.

Our latest child.  Woody was found on the parking lot of HEB
in Temple and we just couldn't leave him.  He rides shotgun with us now!!

The taxi driver......

......the goofy acting passenger.......

.... and the Game Boy playing passenger.

Oops!  This old technology makes me tired!  The Game Boy continues
to entertain  after all these years!

Let's eat!
The first day they went with us, we made a bad mistake going
to Jason's Deli.  Normally we like them, but this one, well, let's just say we
don't recommend this one!!   So the following day we chose wisely and
went back to the old stand-by, Olive Garden.  Yum, we all licked the plates!

Jane started kindergarten in Littleton this year.

Leighton started school at Abilene Wylie.
