Random Summer and Fall 2017 Pictures

A lot of things happened in the late summer and early fall last year!  So in the interest of time, we'll summarize some of the main things that happened from August to November.

This guy showed up on Jennifer and Presley's running trail one morning.  Toby
dispatched him to Rattler Heaven.

We told Presley that we would make her a caramel cake one day.

Looks like she is about to attack it!

Taylor the fire starter.

Presley and her cat.

Getting ready for the new school year, Presley decided to model some new duds from Justice.

Modeling her new school clothes.

I think she might be a little dramatic!

She what I mean?

You go, girl!

2017 was the year of the total eclipse of the sun.  Taylor and Presley came over after cross country practice that morning and we had our own viewing party complete with breakfast.  We all went out into the yard with our homemade viewers and welding helmets to see this big event.  Luckily, Jennifer brought us a couple of approved viewers from school.  Remember kids, don't look directly at the sun!  The ground had this eerie look sort of like a moonscape.  It was fun morning spent with two of the grand kids!

Getting our first look as the sun gradually disappeared.

The eclipse cast this eerie shadow on the ground under the trees.

The neighbors are probably thinking "what are they looking at?"

Approaching full  coverage.

It looked like clouds, or mountains or cotton!

What's an eclipse party without a little humor?

Topping the morning off with a breakfast!

Our front bedroom after we put the summer comforter on the bed.

Presley and Taylor ran in the Dove Festival 5K in 2017.  I didn't get any pictures of Taylor but Presley won her age group division with a time of 25.51.  We think she may have a future in running for the Lady Bulldogs one of these days like her Mother.  Taylor has been running Cross Country for 2 years in junior high.

The course had several big hills but Presley took it all in stride.
Stride, get it.  How else would she take it?

Nice form, Pres!

Ah, the finish line.  What every runner wants to see!

Almost there......

....made it!

The results are posted quickly after the race and Presley won the 9 and under
girls division.

Picking up her hardware!

Taylor ran his first CC meet in Hico at the Bluebonnet Country Club.

And they are off.  I wouldn't want to be in their way when the horn sounded.

Grandparents day at school.  Our friends Bubba and Shirley claimed Branson as their's!

Bebe and Presley.  Pres always wants pizza on grandparents day!

They worked on the street in front of our house last fall, and they only worked at night!

This picture was taken at about 3:00 a.m.!  Try sleeping when that's going on
right outside your window!

Presley had her costume ready for Halloween around the square.

The girl is a character, to say the least!

She looks like a little person with a big head!

Leighton started showing her pigs last fall.  We were able to go over to Brownwood to a little jackpot show and see her show her Duroc and Chester pig.  She is developing into a very good little showman.  I think she has a bright future in the show ring and in 4-H and FFA.

Keeping this Chester moving forward was a job!

Her Duroc, named Tink (short for Tinkerbell) won it's class and
was the Champion Duroc of the show.

You can't spend all day showing pigs.

Taylor gave the 8th grade speech at one of the pep rallies.

Number 23 heading back to the bleachers after his talk.

The parents dressed up and did various skits at pep rally to embarrass their kids!

Taylor has really grown tall this past year and is about to catch Dad!

Jenny and Jennifer dressed up like chickens, complete with those
pretty socks!

It's a Colorful Kind of Day

One of our favorite shows is Sunday Morning on CBS.  It's a weekly news magazine type show where you can learn all kinds of general knowledge.  and, as you may know, we love knowledge!  In fact, we yearn for it!

During the show's breaks, there are a number of drawings similar to a color pencil rendering of various scenes.  Since Beverly is into coloring, we have been taking pictures so she can get ideas on various color combinations.
