A Blast From The Past Or "It's Time To Clean Out The Attic!"

Do you think most people reach a point in their lives when they finally have to admit that it's time to get rid of some stuff?  You know, when you have every nook and cranny full and then you look in the attic and discover that it's full, too.  Oh, and that doesn't include a rented storage building! This spring we knew it was time to clean out the attic and storage building completely.  So, we decided to have a super size, fantastic, "everything has to go" sale and the city-wide garage experience provided just the excuse to get it done!

We discovered things we had forgotten about and quite a few things that we wondered why we had them in the first place.  There were old (meaning vintage) children's toys that included Cabbage Patch dolls, Masters of the Universe He-Men and castles, ET (a little worse for wear), Breyer horses and other items we had saved from the past. We found clothes, old school papers, books,  baseball card collections and lots of other treasures.  In addition, there were lots of old crocks, stuffed bears, country decor (we've moved on from that era), and lots of things inherited from parents!  It took more than a full week to get it all out and go through it.

After looking through it all and deciding what to trash, what to keep and what to sell (often a painful experience I might add), we committed to having the sale.  Our local storage building owner allowed us to hold the sale at the storage building, kind of like Storage Wars.  Jennifer had a baby dresser she wanted to sell and a lot of good children's clothes.  One other friend put some clothes and other items in the sale so the building was full, from top to bottom.  We even sold our baby bed that all three of our children were raised in.  Talk about letting go!!  This was our first Hamilton garage sale but it was a big success and we were able to sell a lot of the overflow items from our life.

By the way, we still have too much stuff!

Jennifer's Miss Piggy sweater.

Remember these?  They still smell!

One of Jeremy's early Leggo sets.

Fisher Price cow and Beverly's Lamb Chop,
Charley Horse and Hush Puppie puppets from her childhood!

Strawberry Shortcake dolls.

E T had some radiation problems.
Jennifer is still creeped out by this guy!

Jordan's horse collection.

Obviously her circulation was cut off during her time in the attic!
Gangrene had already set in!

Just your size!

No more storage rental!
